Keeping on top of your Playpen Chicago community activity is great—until it starts filling your inbox. Fortunately, Playpen Chicago’s notification system lets you customize which notifications you receive and how often you get them. Follow the steps below to cut down on email clutter while still staying connected to what matters most.
Sign in to Playpen Chicago at theplaypen.com.
Click your profile picture (top right corner).
Select Preferences from the dropdown menu.
In the top bar menu, click Notifications.
The Community Notifications page opens up.
In the Email Notification Intensity section, you can fine-tune how often you hear from us:

| Realtime | Receive emails as soon as an event happens (default). |
| Hourly Digest | Receive one summary email every hour with all recent activity. |
| Daily Digest | Receive one summary email each day with everything that happened. |
| Weekly Digest | Receive one summary email each week covering the past 7 days. |
| Never | Turn off all email notifications—you’ll still see everything on-site. |
Click the dropdown next to Email Notification Intensity.
Select your preferred option.
At the very bottom of the page, there is a toggle bar for a Weekly Email Digest. If you don't want this, toggle it off.
Under Email Notifications, Playpen Chicago organizes alerts by category. For each category, toggle the Checkmark On or Off:
Activity
New comments on your posts
Likes and reactions
Connections
Friend requests
New followers
Groups & Events
Invites to groups or events
Group activity summaries
Private Messages
Direct messages from other members
Once you’ve adjusted both the types of notifications and the frequency, be sure to:
Scroll to the bottom of the page.
Click Save Changes.
Your preferences are now active—expect fewer (or no) emails based on your settings!
Q: I still got an email—didn’t I turn it off?
A: Double-check both the toggle for that category and your frequency setting. If you selected Weekly Digest, you’ll still get one email per week covering all enabled categories.
Q: How do I temporarily mute all emails?
A: Choose None under Email Frequency. You can switch back to a digest or instant alerts anytime.
Q: Can I override these settings for a single event?
A: Not at this time—your settings apply site-wide. To follow a specific thread, visit it on-site or use the “Follow” button there.
